Boy. Oil on canvas.
This isn’t actually done…it was more just sorta abandoned. Let’s just pretend, though, that the lips are so purple because that’s the color lips become when acne-ridden boys feel like shooting mouth lasers while floating in a sea of putrid barf.
Hungry Hungry Hippo 1. Watercolor on paper.
My bad; the first one I posted was number 3. Anyway, this one’s my favorite of the bunch…
Hungry Hungry Hippo 2. Watercolor on paper.
Out of the three pieces in this series, this one has both the parts I hate the most and the parts I like the most… Funny how what seem to be the simplest pieces can be the hardest to actually make. Next up is my favorite one!!
Hungry Hungry Hippo 1. Watercolor on paper.
This was actually one of the main pieces I was working on all semester for my thesis…but it got nixed in the end by my instructors because it didn’t fit with the drawings. For about five minutes I was so mad about it that I cried. Then I got over it! Too bad this’ll never show anywhere; but it IS kind of overworked (and not even done yet…)
My portfolio no longer not exists anymore! By which I mean, IT EXISTS! Permanently! …For about a year! Then we will see what happens.
BOOM CLICK BOOM BOOM
Graduation is on Saturday. Graduation is also tentative because I have to turn in a very late final paper. Oh nooooooooo! :(
……Old NEW paintings forthcoming!
Hey guys, I have a website now!
It expires……..TOMORROW.
(“Oshiro” is my legal surname in Japan… I’ve used it mostly for art-related things since I found out that my dad occasionally Google-stalks me. Also it sounds less stupid with my first name than “Hofmann” does.)
Here is 2/3 of my thesis show work. I like the toilet one, but I have some problems with the leg-shaving piece. That is not how people shave their legs! Unless maybe they’re in a hurry, which Girlfriend here clearly is NOT.
Hey so my Professional Practices class is having an opening for a show on May 3! It’s gonna be SWEEEEET. The people in my class are really great. We’ll be exhibiting along with a P.Prac class from George Washington University.
Anyway, I was one of the people throwing in concept designs for the main graphic for the show, but I didn’t finish this one in time to throw it into the pool of selections. I like it, though! Will Corcoran and ole George, just cruisin’ down 95 in church van. All bro-like. Oh and I used buff and orange(?) because buff is one of GWU’s school colors and that orange is…one of the colors we have on our website? (We don’t actually have school colors.)
EDIT: ohhhh hahaha btw don’t go to “15passengervan.com”, it’s not our show’s site; it’s just a site where you can buy 15-passenger vans. Or something.
NEXT 2012
Oh my gosh you guysssssssssssss. It’s our senior thesis exhibition at the Corcoran! We had our opening last night. There’s a lot of pretty snazzy work up, so if you’re in DC at any time from now ‘til May 20th, you should check it out! (It’s free.)
